Dr. James W. Bosler III, Louisville, Ky., was elected to the Board of Directors of Woodmen of the World/Omaha Woodmen Life Insurance Society in July 2005. He was named a Director at the 2005 National Convention, which was held in Omaha, Neb.
Dr. Bosler received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Louisville in 1984 and then attended Medical School at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, graduating with an MD in 1989. He performed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Louisville and Affiliated Hospitals from 1989-1992. He has been a member in the private practice of Internal Medicine since 1992 with Dr. Ciliberti, Dr. Wijangco, & Dr. Bosler, P.S.C. in Louisville.
Dr. Bosler is certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine and has received the Demosthenes Award for Medical Lecture Series and the Gaspar Carrasquer Award for Internal Medicine. Dr. Bosler was named among "America's Top Physicians" by the Consumers' Research Council of America in 2007 and 2008. Dr. Bosler has been recognized by the American Diabetes Association each year since 2006. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Kentucky Medical Association, Greater Louisville Medical Society, American College of Physicians and the American College of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Bosler has been a Woodmen of the World member since his birth in 1960. He is Past President of Lodge 14 in Louisville. Mr. Bosler also served as Jr. Past President of the Kentucky Jurisdiction in 2004, and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Fraternal Congress in October 2003. He was appointed to serve on the National Fraternal Committee from 2003 until 2005, when he was elected to the Board of Directors.
Dr. Bosler has a distinguished history of service to Woodmen of the World and his community. He serves as Chief Medical Officer at the Bluegrass Woodmen Youth Camp in Lexington, Ky. He volunteers with the National Ski Patrol, the Louisville Genealogical Society and at Eastern High School as their Team Physician. In addition, Dr. Bosler (a former Eagle Scout) is an adult leader for Boy Scouts of America and volunteers as a tournament doctor for the Professional Golf Association (PGA).
Dr. Bosler uses his medical knowledge for a variety of volunteer activities, including service as an FAA-certified medical examiner on the Aviation Accident Scene Investigation Team, a volunteer Regional Medical Bioterrorism Response Team Leader and Regional Medical Illegal Drug Abuse Physician Education Team member. In addition, Dr. Bosler is chairman of medical committees promoting public and community outreach, and a member of the Medical Ethics Committee, the Medical Resources/Library, and the Medical Society Athletic Committee. He is a volunteer consultant for many drug company advisory boards and seminars and is a liaison to foster improved accessibility and affordability of medicines for the public.
In his free time, Dr. Bosler enjoys photography, snow skiing, aviation, computer technology, sports and fitness activities. His father, James Bosler II, is a retired Woodmen of the World Director, and his mother, the late Mary Etta Bosler, was elected Woodmen of the World's first female Jurisdictional President (of Kentucky) in 1965. Dr. Bosler has two daughters, Lauren and Caroline.
