Morris Lane Harvey of Mt. Vernon, Ill., was elected to the Board of Directors of Woodmen of the World/Omaha Woodmen Life Insurance Society in July 2005. He was named a Director at the 2005 National Convention, which was held in Omaha, Neb.
A native of Madisonville, Ky., Harvey received a B.S. from Murray State University in 1972 and a J.D. from the University of Kentucky in 1974. He began working as an Associate at Hanagan & Dousman in Mt. Vernon in 1975 and in 1977 became a partner at Feiger, Quindry, Molt & Harvey in Fairfield, Ill., where he worked until 1985. He then presided as owner of the Law Offices of Morris Lane Harvey from 1985 through 2004. Harvey was a partner at the Law Offices of Harvey and Bradley, LLC in Mt. Vernon until June 2007 and is once again the proprietor of the Law Offices of Morris Lane Harvey.
Harvey became a Woodmen of the World member in 1977 when he joined Lodge 635 in Fairfield, and served as Lodge President. He is currently a member of Lodge 202 in Mt. Vernon. Harvey serves on the Special Fraternal Strategic Committee, an ad hoc committee appointed in 2006 by former President James Mounce to develop a long-range plan for the Woodmen of the World Fraternal Program.
Harvey has a long career of service to Woodmen of the World including Illinois Jurisdictional President from 1985-1987; National Fraternal Committee member, 1987-1989 and 2000-2002; National Legislative Committee member, 1989-1993; and National Judiciary Committee member from 1993-1997.
Harvey is a founding member and President of Heartland Woodmen of the World Foundation and received the Fraternalist of the Year Award for Illinois in 1998. He is a member of the American Bar Registry of Pre-eminent Lawyers, president of the United Way of South Central Illinois, member of the United Way Board of Directors for the state of Illinois, and the immediate past president of the Mt. Vernon Rotary Club. He received the Jaycees Outstanding Young Man Award in 1978, 1980 and 1989; was awarded the National Republican Congressional Committee Businessman of the Year Award from 2003 - 2008 and was an Alternate Delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1988 and 2004.
Harvey and his wife, Mary, have five children - Lane Jr.; John and wife, Miranda; Adam and wife, Amy; Kim; and Laura and husband Brock. They also have a grandson, Dominick Alexander. Their daughter, Laura, has served Woodmen of the World as Fraternal Coordinator of Illinois South. |
